ABSTRACT:
Join us for a virtual learning session that focuses on re-envisioning the tools and strategies of prevention science to address equity and bias through a health equity lens. Together, we define the waters of culture and equity that we must navigate to impact sustainable change. We explore how the social determinants of health and education can be barriers to success but more importantly, they can be entry points for change. Participants will leave with awareness and skills on how to address bias and microaggressions as they navigate this work.

Outcomes:

  • Explain the connection of individual to systemic social determinants in health and education

  • Describe the value continuum from personal identity to professional context, and its’ impact on individual decision making

  • Examine our sphere of influence and foster curiosity to address our own biases
