Ravi Jhaveri MD, FIDSA, FPIDS, FAAP

Dr. Jhaveri joined the faculty at Lurie/FSM in October 2018 after having served on the faculty at both Duke and UNC. He currently serves as Associate Division Head for Pediatric Infectious Diseases. Dr. Jhaveri is active in leadership of several infectious diseases society at the national level. He currently serves as a member of the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society Board of Directors. He is the Vice-Chair of the Infectious Diseases Society of America Leadership Institute working group and is the PIDS liaison to the IDSA Standards, Practice and Guidelines Committee. He is a member of the AASLD-IDSA HCV Guidelines committee where he serves as one of the subgroup chairs on HCV in Children and Pregnant Women.

Dr. Jhaveri has focused on all aspects of Hepatitis C virus infection. In the past, he ran a laboratory dedicated to study the effect of HCV on lipid metabolism in liver cells and viral and host determinants of HCV vertical transmission. He has been very active in studies of HCV in infants and children: epidemiology, natural history and treatment, testing and advocacy. Dr. Jhaveri’s other interests include outcomes studies in pediatric infectious diseases, influenza and the live-attenuated influenza vaccine, prevention, treatment and vertical transmission of Hepatitis B, management of febrile infants and physician decision-making.
